Well, this is a weird post to write…. Falken is extending our annual holiday shutdown by about a week due to circumstances beyond our control. The year’s holiday took us to the beautiful blue Caribbean for a few days. The trip was fantastic, but when we got back to Barbados on Saturday morning (January 3rd) the entire Caribbean airspace was closed due to the military action in Venezuela. American Airlines immediately rebooked us for the “first available” seats back to the States — on Friday, January 9.
I knew I should have flown the RV…
The airspace was only closed for about 30 hours, but the disruption apparently put those of us without any status at the end of a very long queue. We’ve been checking every hour or so, but so far no new flights have been added. Or if they have been, the seats all went to Platinum, Gold, etc. customers. Regardless, those of us from the low rent districts of the periodic table (I think we might be somewhere in the “post transition metals” near lead and thallium) get to wait it out in …interesting… (yet still expensive) lodging.
All of that to say, major apologies to anyone who has been waiting patiently (or impatiently) for us to open back up. We’ll be back in a few days if all goes according to plan and look forward to working with you then.
Happy New Year and Best Regards,
Steve
