Due to circumstances beyond our control, some of the products we resell will include a tariff surcharge starting immediately. Specifically: transponders, radios, and associated components that are sourced through distribution and manufactured overseas may include a surcharge to cover the import duties levied by the US Federal government. Here’s the complicated and annoying part: we won’t know if tariffs are due or how much they will add until you place your order.
Let me explain…
We generally don’t stock high-dollar third-party items like transponders and radios. When we receive an order that includes a radio, transponder, or other third-party product we place an order through one of several large avionics wholesale distributors. Because of the way tariffs work, the distributor pays the tariff when they receive an item from an overseas manufacturer. They then add that tariff as a surcharge to the wholesale price that Falken pays. Older inventory items in their warehouses that arrived before the tariffs went into effects are not subject to the surcharges. Newer stock that has arrived since the tariffs were imposed do include the surcharges.
Until all the old stock is depleted, the only way we know if an item carries tariff charges is to call the distributor and ask. The only way to know how much the surcharge will be (since the tariffs change with some regularity) is to call the distributor and ask. This makes things a bit more complicated on our end.
Hopefully this situation won’t last long, but until things are resolved we’re going to have to pass along those surcharges. The way this will work (and apologies in advance for this) is that we will accept the order at the regular price, place the order with our distributor, and send you an invoice for any tariff charges we’re assessed by the distributor. You can then either pay the surcharge invoice or let us know that you want to drop the item from your order or cancel the order altogether.
We will be happy to share a copy of the distributor invoice (with certain items redacted per our agreements with the distributors and manufacturers) at your request.
Again, we wish things were different and appreciate your patience and understanding.
